Anna Tatarczyk, born in Poland, moved to Germany in 1994, where she was trained as an artist at the renowned Düsseldorf Art Academy. She has been painting for approximately 18 years, but has only recently started to explore the possibilities of geometric abstraction. She realized that a strict reduction to the essential, the geometric composition, opens up an immeasurable wealth of artistic possibilities. Due to this limitation of artistic means her subjects radiate power, calm, and harmony. By working with sharp-edged adjoining color fields in different light levels Tatarczyk creates an inescapable illusion of three-dimensionality.

Her geometric bodies are painted on transparently primed, raw linen. It is this stark contrast between the rough, untreated linen and the sharp-edged, colorful composition that creates a sense of dynamic tension within the painting.

The artist currently lives and works in Düsseldorf and Wuppertal, Germany.
